Multi-Purpose Dyes
use in simmering water

  • Suitable for dyeing cotton, linen, viscose, wool, silk, nylon and Lycra®.

  • Ideal for dyeing small items e.g. stretchy tops, underwear.

  • Also suitable for dyeing a variety of decorative items e.g. dried grasses, feathers, buttons.

  • One tin will dye up to 250g/8oz of dry weight fabric.

How to use Multi-Purpose Dye on fabric
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS IN EACH PACK
  1. Wash fabric thoroughly and leave damp.

  2. Fill a saucepan with enough hot water to cover the item.

  3. Wearing rubber gloves, dissolve dye in 500ml/1 pint of boiling water.

  4. Add dissolved dye to saucepan together with 30g/1oz salt, stir well.

  5. Put in damp, unfolded fabric and raise temperature to simmer. Stir constantly for 20 minutes.

  6. Rinse until water runs clear. Results are not
colourfast, so dyed items should be turned inside-out
    and washed separately.

See special instructions in each pack for dyeing wool
    and silk.
