NEW Hand Dyes
Use by hand
with warm tap water
|
- These little packs are bursting with a whole
spectrum of ideas & with DYLON you have all the colours of the
rainbow to choose from. So if you feel like a change, you can
wake up your wardrobe, revive a faded top or brighten some cushion
covers with colour, ease & permanent results you will be proud
of.
- Suitable for dyeing 250grams of cotton, linen
and viscose to full colour shade e.g. one shirt or larger amounts
to a lighter shade. Wool, Silk, Polyester/cotton and Polyester/viscose
mixes will dye to lighter shades.
- Not suitable for pure polyester, acrylic,
nylon & fabric with special finishes (e.g. dry clean only).
Final colour will depend on the original fabric colour and type.
- Colour mixing rules apply, e.g. red dye on
blue fabric gives purple.
- Some articles may contain polyester stitching
which will not dye.
- Add 250g/8oz of salt. Increase the quantity
of water
and salt in proportion to the number of packs used.

How to use Hand Dye
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS IN EACH PACK
- Weigh dry fabric; wash thoroughly (for new
fabric or items warm wash with wash powder to remove any dressing).
Leave damp.
- Using rubber gloves, dissolve dye in 500ml
warm water.
- Fill bowl, bucket or stainless steel sink
with approx 6 litres warm water (40°C).
- Stir in 5tblespn (250g) of salt. Add dye &
stir well.
- Submerge fabric in water.
- Stir constantly for 15mins, then stir regularly
for 45mins.
- Rinse fabric in cold water. Hand wash in warm
water & dry away from direct heat & sunlight (do not tumble
dry after dyeing).
Helpful Hints
- You will need 250g (1 cup) of ordinary salt,
household cooking salt is ideal.
- One pack will dye up to 250g of fabric e.g.
one men’s business shirt, 2 ladies small tops, 3 face washers,
2 hand towels or larger amounts to lighter shades.
- Remember to ensure the dye vessel allows
free movement of the fabric when dyeing, for larger items in laundry
sinks you may need 2 packs of hand dye.
- Using half the sachet will give reduced shades
results, e.g. pastel shades.
- Please note: Colour mixing rules apply (e.g.
blue on red gives purple).
