| How much dye do I need?
The amount of dye required depends on the DRY weight of the fabric, so the garment or article must be weighed before dyeing. Dyeing smaller or larger amounts of fabric than recommended per pack/tin will give stronger or lighter shades respectively. Therefore, if the shade shown on the pack is required, the amount of dye must be adjusted according to the weight of the fabric.
What kind of fabric can I dye?
Dylon offers a range of fabric dyes developed to suit specific fabrics and projects. Follow the table to help choose the correct dye for the fabric you have in mind.

What colour will I achieve?

The final colour depends on the original colour of the fabric. The colour mixing rules illustrated opposite must be taken into account e.g. blue dye on yellow fabric gives green etc.
For suitable fabrics, first use Dylon Pre-Dye (A fabric colour stripper) to return the fabric to a neutral shade
so it can be dyed to a lighter colour. |
